Decent plot but just so poorly executed and the haunting and CGI suck Movie about Liam Neeson as a psychologist doing an experiment on people within insomnia to see how they react to hauntings. The haunting turns out to be real and the owner of the house previously killed a bunch of children who worked in his factories. See more Richard L @KaneLives Jul 12, 2026 A marvel of set design and digital effects - and little else - The Haunting (which seems to have nothing to do with Jackson's 'The Haunting of Hill House') is a wonderful product of its time, shot on sets the likes of which we might never see again, but populated by empty puppets of characters, acted to absurdly low standards aside from a decent Neeson, filmed by someone who supposedly thought he was orchestrating a ride in Disneyland, with a main character who's more messed up and unrealistic than the entire house ever could be.
