The main irony, of course, lies in the film's title, which suggests that the absurdly flag-waving activist should be taken at face value despite the ample evidence that defending his country is the last thing on his mind.

This is one of my favorite movies of all time. From start to finish it is a captivating, high stakes, morally compelling war drama. Purely for the only thing that matters in a movie, there is not a single thing to complain about it as entertainment. Every gripe I see is "pRoPoGaNdA" and "iTs nOt hIsToRiCaLlY aCcUrAtE". Okay Redditor. Go be a basement dwelling intellectual somewhere else. It’s a DRAMA. It’s not a biopic. It’s not a documentary. It never claimed to be. If you think like a critic, every movie sucks because it’s not a boring sack of garbage finely detailed to your sophisticated pallet, while the audience hates it. You ever notice that every movie critics love sucks? It’s because critics don’t know what makes movies good. This is a great film. The British were very cruel. Historically accurate. The revolutionary war was messy, split families apart and had measurable personal human suffering. That’s all here. Enjoy the movie and don’t be a baby like the critics.
