If you're headed to San Diego for this week's Comic-Con 2008, then you're in luck; over 30 of Hollywood's most anticipated films and television shows are slated to strut their stuff at the biggest pop culture event of the year. (They don't call it "Nerdy Gras" for nothing!) But for those of you who can't attend, Rotten Tomatoes will be bringing you all the highlights, news and photos from Comic-Con 2008.

This year's Con kicks off today with Preview Night, followed by four straight days of nonstop panels, unadulterated geekery, and costumed fun. Here we've put together a preview of our own, photo highlights of the hottest movie panels we're looking forward to over the next few days. (Stay tuned for our gallery of the best Comic-Con costumes -- metallic bikini Leia alert!)

Who Watches the Watchmen?

Zack Snyder's adaptation of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' Watchmen is quite possibly the most anticipated film of 2009, and it's still eight months away. No less than ten Comic-Con panels will discuss the Watchmen movie this year, although Friday's Warner Bros. presentation will be the biggest of them all -- expect sneak peeks and special guests. Expected to attend: director Snyder and Malin Akerman, Billy Crudup, Matthew Goode, Carla Gugino, Jackie Earle Haley, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Patrick Wilson. Watch the teaser trailer here.

Next: The Spirit

Watchmen could be good, it really all depends on the studio at this point.
Drag Me To Hell will be amazing as long as nobody sets their expectations too high.
Twilight will probably suck even more than the book.
Pineapple Express will be brilliant.
The Clone Wars could be good or bad but it doesn't matter because we all know it's just Lucas trying to suck more money out of the fans.
The Spirit looks to be one of the flat-out worst comic book movies ever made.
Terminator Salvation just might be really good.
The Day the Earth Stood Still has no chance to be good.

YOU SHUT YOUR FACE UP!
-Yeah Watchmen all really depends on the running time for whether it will be great or not, needs to be 3 hours.
-Twilight looks like this years The Covenant
-Pineapple Express looks awesome
-Not sure on Clone Wars
-I think The Spirit looks cool, but it has a fifty fifty chance of being crap!
- T4 looks good but I think they are gonna go in the Transformers look, aka make big robots that can pick pe up out of buildings.
-I dont get why there remaking The Day The Earth SStood Still
-Max Payne has a chance of being good, but it should be R.

Also I hope Drag Me to Hell is good, Raimi is great at horror. I hope he does S4 and S5 after it though....I hope Wolfman will be good, I hope they have nothing stupid like having Anthony Hopkins as wolfman too lol... Punisher War Zone could be fun, its from the girl who did Green Street Hooligans which was pretty good.... And I think Eagle Eye will be good.

I thought the remake of The Day The Earth Stood Still was a joke until I saw its trailer up on Apple's website. Wow, just wow. They took a movie that didn't need flashy special effects to be legitimately intriguing and turned it into this overblown piece of crap. FAIL.

On a good note they could not have cast Keanu Reeves in a better role.

Pinneapple Express, The Spirit, Watchmen, and Zach and Miri all look fantastic. Can't wait to see them.

The Day the Earth Stood Still and Terminator Salvation could both be good, but I could definitely see them both sucking too so we'll see.

One day, maybe in 4 or 5 year, I will have enough cash to fly from where I live (Quebec, Canada) to San Diego for Comic-Con. It's a geek dream.

BTW, Watchmen look awesome. Hope it don't get screwed up by the studios.
T4, I don't know. Bale is Kick-***, Mcg is.. who is McG by the way? (I know it's director of Charlie's Angels II, but beyond that?)

I don't like Underworld that much. I prefer to play White-Wolf World of Darkness RPG tabletop game.

Don't know of twilight. Never even heard of the novel before today.

Watchmen will get ****ed by the studio at the last minute when they get cold feet about the runtime and mass appeal. We'll just have to wait for the DVD to get the good version it looks like Zack Snyder is making. Animated or CGI probably would have been a better choice, and it should be broken up into 2 or 3 120 minute segments.
T4 looks promising. It has a great cast.
Drag Me to Hell is going to suck.
Twilight is going to double-suck because of all the fans of the book that will be disappointed.
Wolf-man looks very promising. Great cast paired with basically a straight remake of the original? Sounds like a winner in my book, but then again, I love period pieces.
The Day the Earth Stood Still looks terrible.
Zack and Miri looks funny, but it won't be very successful because of the NC-17 rating.
The Spirit looked awful in the first trailer, but I haven't read the original stories so maybe it will turn out OK. It seems pretty esoteric.
Death Race looks stupid.
Pineapple Express looks very funny, but there's only so much weed humor people can handle. It gets really old, really fast.
The Mummy looks awful. I don't understand how Brendan Fraser still gets work.
The Clone Wars looks like another way for George Lucas to suck some more money out of SW fans. It's basically the pilot for the new kids TV show.

Overall I'm most excited to hear news about Watchmen and the new season of Heroes.

Watchmen is going to be fantastic just hope it doesn't get screwed by Warner Brothers at the last minutes
Terminator Salvation looks good with a good cast
Not so sure about the clone wars not much of a Star Wars Fan
Pineapple Express is going to awesome
The Mummy not sure I will even waste my money to see.
The Spirit looks okay because Frank Miller is good at what he does
The Day the Earth Stood Still looks terrible
Twilight looks like a new Covenant
Drag Me To Hell will be good because Sam Raimi is good at Horror
Death Race looks awesome

Mostly wanting to see Watchmen the most. Hope it is almost as good as The Dark Knight

I also never saw Underworld but don't need to because it is a prequel but still probably not going to see it any way.

I was there, but since I really wasn't able to plan for it (Just happened to end up in San Diego this week) I wasn't able to get tickets and since they're not selling on site it doesn't look like I'm gonna be able to take part in the actual festivities.

Hang out around town in San Diego and even if you don't have a pass, you'll catch some of the peripheral activities...Universal set up 70 terra cotta soldiers from Mummy 3 across the street from the Convention Center, for example...

Yeah, I hung out with the Coners for a couple of hours today. Laughed at the locals trying to deal with the influx of traffic. Much fun was had. Honestly I'm still in the heady stage of being able to enjoy American conveniences again while simultaneously missing all things England. I swear if I don't see a football game soon or have someone insult me while trying to get me to agree with them soon I'm gonna scream :) On the brightside 70 degree's and sunny for the last week has made it easier to deal with.

No, I'm an American, but I've spent 5 of the last 8 years living in England and have a well developed appreciation for the British and their culture. I always have pangs for the first few months I'm away. I'm kinda the anti-Beckham sans the good looks and talent :)
