Lump me into the "Robin COULD work if done right" crowd. I'm not against the idea.

Just bring on Catwoman and Batgirl and I'll be satisfied.

I think Dick Grayson could work. But introduce him as Nightwing instead of Robin, because Grayson's second ID is more mature and could work. Besides, aren't they working on bringing Nightwing to the "Teen Titans" film? Maybe they'll introduce him in part three, then NW can tell Batman that he'll venture off into forming his own team (the Teen Titans) for whatever reason. A good example of a crossover.

Why can't people understand that the Batman from these films would never allow for a sidekick? It doesn't fit the character in any way. These films are all about the loneliness Bruce Wayne must feel as he gets lost in his monster.

Once you introduce a sidekick to Nolan's world, the Batman/Bruce Wayne character ceases to be interesting. Introducing Robin or Batgirl, no matter how well they pull off the character, would kill everything Nolan has worked toward accomplishing.

If they do catwomen, I think Kira Knightly would be perfect. And since she obviously doesn't mind going topless, we could see the first nude scene in a batman movie. It would be perfect since I hear catwomen was origanlly a prostitute

What was the riddler's true character like. I know he's not like how jim carrey portrade him or the guy in the adam west serise. Just curious cause the only comic ive ever seen him in was the long halloween and in that he seemed like a little defencless weakling.

Okay Guys....I think I have a solution that would please everyone. You CAN have Robin in an upcoming "Batman" film...if he is horribly tortured, mutiliated and finally murdered in the first half hour by Scarecrow and Two-Face...then Batman spends the rest of the movie seeking revenge. See? Everybody wins.

Robin's unworthy of Vengeance. . . If anything Batman should bake the villains a pie in gratitude.

Plus, she's british and since Bale, nolan, cain, and oldmen are british, it just makes scence- even if I don't.

because the Batman necessitates a humanizing mirror

To me the Joker has always been that humanizing mirror.
The Joker has always been(from what I have read) the De-humanizing factor of/in society and the Batman was the reitiration of humanity back to its core.
Fighting for oneself and everything it involved or was affected by.
Be it family friends or society.
The Joker is the perfect sidekick to Batman.
Maybe not in the sense that he hangs out by his side, but the fact that they balance each other out.

I actually don't mind Robin as a character in the comics, though he's definitely not my favorite. But its true that he would be completely out of place in the current Batman trilogy, unless they reworked the character to the extreme.

Although I didn't think they would be able to pull off The Joker, either, and I was clearly wrong. Who knows?

Actually, he's not an original. He was added to make The Bat more "fatherly". The Batman before was more like the one of this movie. Therefore, Robin serves no purpose. He brings down Batman's dark character and is counterproductive. I even thought this when I was younger, though I tolerated him a lot more than I do now.

To add. Just because a character appears in the books doesn't make him good. Robin was created for the sole purpose of making Batman more sympathetic. We don't need that when we have a thing called character development and plot. Robin is like giving Darth Vader a hello kitty robot sidekick. You might as well make Batman bright and happy too.

Robin is part of the Batman mythos and should've been included in the movies somewhere. Not saying as a full time sidekick but maybe even in the Batman Year 100 vein where he's like tech support. As Bucky needs to be in the Cap movies to become the winter soldier they can show Robin as a hero in training and then hit us with Nightwing.

ok , does anybody remember a movie a year or so ago called 'spiderman 3' this batman franchise already has too many characters as it is// although harvy dent is in the movie i hear that Two-face is only in the last 30 min or so to go on to the next film// the more characters you have the more time it takes to proplerly create character development// comics are a completly different medium than film// it usually takes me about 30 minutes to enjoy a standard comic// which would be a full half hr of film and comics do not have as much dialog as a film // as an example if the vemom saga was six issues in the comic it would turn out to be a 3hr movie with just the min characters needed for that story alone with one villian and supporting char. mary jane , j jonah, aunt may etc.

the dark knight has batman, joker, harvey dent then Two-face, commish gordon, scarecrow, morgan freeman(still don't see the need for this char.) alfred, and a love interest thown in with maggie g. not to mention some guy who AGAIN finds out that bruce is batman !!! i believe it runs about 2hrs and 30min // that come to about 5 comics with a story that is already overbooked// they just should have left in the joker storyline alone// i have heard good reviews so far but i still have my doubts about this movie// i am probably the only one who HATED batman begins because of the so very weak villians// batman is a character who is only as good as his villians and that is why the joker and he complete each other so well // weak bad guys = weak batman// you would not go see a batman movie if he were just battling a group of high school juvies// he'd wipe them with the pavement and the movie would be over in 10 sec. no you go to see batman cause the bad guys give him a run for his money and you want to see how far he will go until he become just like the monster he is fighting.. and that's the whole idea...
