Mila Kunis Joins Mark Wahlberg in Max Payne
Actress to play pocket-sized killer.
She was a mainstay of the cast of Fox's That '70s Show for eight seasons, but unlike many TV vets, Mila Kunis seems to be sticking the landing in her jump to the big screen.
Variety reports that Kunis will follow up her role in next month's Forgetting Sarah Marshall with a star turn opposite Mark Wahlberg in the long-discussed adaptation of Rockstar's popular Max Payne videogame. From the article:
Kunis, best known for a long run on "That '70s Show" and voicing the androgynous teen Meg Griffin in "Family Guy," will play an assassin who teams up with the title character to avenge her sister's death. Wahlberg plays Payne, a cop haunted by the tragic loss of his family who finds himself in the thick of a conspiracy when he investigates a series of murders.
John Moore is set to direct Payne, from a script by Beau Thorne. Whether Moore, Wahlberg, or anyone else involved can make a believable assassin out of adorable little Mila Kunis will obviously be determined at a later date.

on Mar 11 2008 05:24 AM "d3333mn Jackie...". best line of that entire show... i'm surprised she hasn't already done the b33bie flick most young chics do when their career has hit the crapper. c'mon Mila...lower your standards, you're not QUITE there with a video game flick...but its close (Reply to this) |

on Mar 11 2008 06:12 AM In reply to this comment (#1626059) Career hit the crapper? Going from one hit show to another and then snagging a starring role in an anticipated actioner, not quite what I'd call a career unraveling. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 11 2008 08:52 AM i always thought moana sax always looked more like courtney cox, but mila is hot so we'll see, marky mark attaching himself to this movie increases its chances of being good, then again the rock attached himself to doom and look how that turned out (Reply to this) |

on Mar 11 2008 10:41 AM Huh. Kunis strikes me as awfully short for a femme fatale. And a little young, and she doesn't really have that cold, sleek look that Mona Sax does. And, really, a video game movie and a supporting role in a film "by the guys who aren't Judd Apatow who brought you the 40 Year-Old Virgin" is not necessarily a tv-to-movies landing stuck. But... what the hey! What are we expecting here, Billy Wilder? (Reply to this) |

on Mar 11 2008 02:06 PM Man Payne... Man, this is one video game movie rendition I really hope they don't screw up. No one can use the "it's not translatable" excuse this time. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 12 2008 02:37 AM Wahlberg is a good actor, and the Max Payne games are two of my favorite games ever. I just hope it isn't ruined by an awful script. I also hope that they have that film noir aspect and have him narrate certain parts of it. I don't want this to be another terrible film like Hitman. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 12 2008 03:27 AM In reply to this comment (#1627929) It just so happens that I finally got around to seeing Hitman. Just last night, in fact. Wasn't nearly as bad as I'd been hearing. In fact, I'll go so far as to say that it was one of the better video game adaptations of late. Better than Tomb Raider, certainly better than the debacle that has been made of the Resident Evil franchise, and let's not even talk about Doom. I initially thought Oliphant was a bad choice for 47, but his performance won me over. It's something about those eyes that conveyed the darkness I was looking for. Who knows. Maybe my expectations going in were so low that me liking it was inevitable. In any case, though there were some problems, it could have been significantly worse. But yes, we're agreed that Max Paine deserves grade A treatment. The story calls for it. (Reply to this) |

on May 07 2008 11:51 PM well just here giving some info to truly Max Payne fans to invite you to check out the web page payneandredemption its a website that tries to make an independent film on max payne well the director its quite newbie but really trying hard to make it the best as it gets (being a fan independent film) with high def cameras and really cool professional production, its a fan made like those starwars zillions of movies out there and now Fox is trying to shut it down because of copyright laws, check it yourselfs and watch how really "fare" is this, on a personal note this one looked quite promising therefore fox was scared that it will make their movie well in a few words.. fan-made better than zillions of dollars in production, its important to emphasise that this was non-profit movie, im inviting people to boycot this "official" film cuz its not fair what they are doing i personaly am not gonna see fox´s film, judge by yourself, tnx. ps sorry my rusty english... im form mexico :P (Reply to this) |
