EverQuest Adaptation Gets a Screenwriter
300's Gordon to write the script.

Blog Article | Discuss Article
It's taken the long way through the development process, but Sony's big-screen EverQuest adaptation just got itself a screenwriter.

Variety reports that Michael Gordon (300) has been hired to write the EverQuest script, confirming a story earlier reported by IGN Movies. Avi Arad, the former Marvel executive who recently earned production credits on Spider-Man 3 and Ghost Rider, will be a member of the EverQuest production team. From the article:

In the game, players create a character they use to explore the world of Norrath, where they interact with other players or fight off creatures while going on quests for treasure.

"EverQuest" was the most popular online role-playing game from 2000-04, before similar games such as "World of Warcraft" launched.

It's also long been a major moneymaker for Sony, because in order to play, users must buy the game and pay a monthly fee to participate.

At its peak, title had more than 450,000 subscribers ponying up $10 a month to play.

How will they make this into a movie? They are doing the same with 'Warcraft' and I just raise my eyebrows- wtf?

Seriously! Why make a movie that allows for easy facial emotion when we could have Master Chief using his body like a power ranger to share emotion. Darn studios just don't get it!

w00t!!

Excellent idea; and, I think it will do well. I wonder if it'll be animated, or use real actors.

now they just need to find Zack Snyder, or get another good director to help push it.

So how exactly are they going to squeeze a story out of a game with NO STORY? And will one of the characters scream, "Train!" at some point in the movie?
