Phil Mickelson

Is right-handed in everything except golf; learned to swing left-handed as early as 18 months by standing opposite his father, who swung right-handed. Has a pilot's license, is a certified scuba diver and trains in the martial arts. Reportedly won $560,000 on a $20,000 wager on the Baltimore Ravens to win the Super Bowl in 2001. Tried out as a pitcher for the Detroit Tigers' AAA team in Toledo in 2003. Became only the fourth amateur to win a PGA Tour event with his victory at the 1991 Northern Telecom Open in Tucson. Was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis, an inflammatory arthritis caused by an overactive immune system, following the 2010 U.S. Open. Following his diagnosis Mickelson created On Course With Phil, an educational resource that raises awareness about psoriatic arthritis and other related conditions.
