Movie Info

Snakes on a Plane director David R. Ellis follows up his high-flying tale of reptilian terror with this horrific frightener concerning a group of college students who discover that their dormitory was once a mental hospital presided over by a sadistic doctor. As the semester gets under way, it begins to appear as if the spirit of the malevolent M.D. has decided to remain in the haunted hallways in order to continue his experiments on the latest crop of students. Written by Ethan Lawrence and starring Sarah Roemer, Mark Rolston, Ellen Hoffman, Travis Van Winkle, Cody Kasch, and Jake Muxworthy, Asylum features state-of-the-art special effects work by Academy Award-winning artist David LeRoy Anderson (Dawn of the Dead [2004], Men in Black, and The Nutty Professor).

If you can manage to shut off the "logic" part of your brain, it's pretty bad. If you can't, it's even worse.

Weak story, terrible acting, cheesey costume design, and very predictable. Although some scenes were fairly graphic, it wasn't good enough to stop this film from being an unsmart horror flick.

Honestly, I liked the first half of the movie. They build the thrill quite decent, Asylum tells the story of college dorm which was once a mental asylum in the 30's, used to treat mental teenagers. Now, as it's being rebuild (not yet finish), group of freshman kids are haunted and stalk by the ghost(?) of the mental doctor. I'm confused whether the villain is a ghost, real human or he is mutant? that's what killed the movie. The actors did good actually, Sarah Roemer (Disturbia) and Travis Van Winkle (Transformer) gave a satisfying performance, which is sad that the ending bombed. 4.5/10.

"Give Me Your Suffering" The ghost of an insane doctor murdered by his own patients many years ago returns to mutilate some college kids who begun graduate school. At first everything seems to be fine, but soon they find out the campus was once the spot where the psychotic doctor practiced his own twisted brand of medicine. The doctor still haunts the halls, preying on the students using their own troubled past to help weaken them for the slaughter. Their only hope is to free the tortured souls of his previous victims that are trapped within him. Reminiscent of the "Freddy Krueger" series this psychotic man goes around killing the teens in twisted and nasty ways with his sharp blades, has supernatural strength and a lust for blood and gore.
