Marco L @decatur555 22 hrs ago A very good, sad and vital film about alcohol, crisis and the temptation to use a substance as an emotional crutch. The experiment starts almost funny: four middle-aged teachers try to maintain a small level of alcohol in their blood to feel more alive, confident and connected. For a while it seems to work, especially for Martin, played magnificently by Mads Mikkelsen. But the film is smart because it does not moralize; it shows the slide. The "I’m in control" excuse slowly collapses as they drink more, justify exceptions and stop seeing their own mistakes. The students noticing Martin’s errors before he does felt painfully real. The film also avoids easy condemnation: alcohol brings energy, friendship and courage, but also damage and tragedy. The final dance is liberating without pretending everything is fixed. Honest, human and much more complex than it first appears.
