Character development is amazing, story pace is on point, you see the magic of NYC and a kid who wants to fulfill his dream. See more Dale R @iromulus9 07/07/2024 A Disney+ original film written and directed by Tim Federle, who also wrote the 2013 book this film is based on. Starring newcomer Rueby Wood as Nate Foster, a middle schooler with dreams of becoming a Broadway star. Wood is a good singer and does a good job with a rendition of “On Broadway'' as well as a couple original songs for the film. Those songs, by Gabriel Mann, are good but not memorable. Lisa Kudrow plays Nate’s aunt well and does bring home some emotional scenes. Overall, I think this movie is worth your time. See more yash b @yashbansal 10/18/2022 "Better Nate Than Ever" is a sweet and well-intentioned family movie that is light and fun to watch. This movie started out with a character that could have easily ended up being annoying, but I think he became endearing by the end of it, which was nice to see. The movie has some catchy songs, but there isn't enough music in here to actually call it a musical in my opinion. I liked the music but I think the story also does a good job of holding its own. While it plays out exactly as I expected it to, I fell for the movie's simple charm and became emotionally invested in the story and characters. Overall, it is a refreshing movie that is both enjoyable on its own merits and a very solid choice for all age groups. See more 06/21/2022 Wow, If I could give this a review of zero I would. This is by far the worst movie I have ever seen in my life, and I put that on God. Don't get me wrong, I love Disney, but this movie was terrible. Especially since the budget of the movie was probably what- $35 Million?? This movie is less realistic than My Little Pony and I stand by that. Worst hour and a half spent on a movie. If you actually like this movie you are insane and I swear you are either gay, obnoxious, or insanely quirky. Hope this helps. See more 05/09/2022 Its simple premise and plot deliver endearing, engaging and heartfelt performances and musical numbers that perfectly land the hopefulness and whimsical wonder of the movie and of the book that inspired it. Cheeky and sweet dialogues as well as dynamics that could fall flat on the hands of other performers and of a different director are rich and layered. It makes sense when reading that the screenwriter and director is the author of the book trilogy.
