Young orphan Sheeta and her kidnapper, Col. Muska, are flying to a military prison when their plane is attacked by a gang of air pirates led by the matronly Dola. Escaping from a midair collision via a magic crystal around her neck, Sheeta meets fellow orphan Pazu and the pair join forces to discover the mystical floating city of Laputa while pursued by both Muska and the pirates, who lust for the city's myriad treasures.

Another amazing Studio Ghibli movie, I truly enjoyed the style this was made in, and the big twist towards the end was completely unexpected. Studio Ghibli never fails to amaze me and make me truly feel at peace while watching.

Great movie, the first under the Studio Ghibli banner. Obviously one of Miyazaki's best films, the English voice cast was great, from Anna Paquin as Sheeta, James Van Der Beek as Pazu, my favorite one is a tie between Cloris Leachman as the pirate captain and Mark Hamill as the main villain Musaka.
