Vixo S @vixo_six Jun 11 Come See Me in the Good Light is an intimate and restrained documentary about love, illness, poetry and the meaning of time when the future becomes fragile. Ryan White avoids turning pain into spectacle, choosing instead to stay close to conversations, silences and the small spaces where people try to give shape to fear. Its greatest strength is the use of language. Words become a way to process reality, preserve connection and keep creating even when life feels uncertain. The film is less interested in illness as tragedy than in how people continue to live, love and make meaning within it. Its slow and contemplative rhythm can create distance, and the story may not move every viewer with the same immediacy. Still, its honesty gives it value. It leaves a quiet reflection on art, affection and the courage of loving when time is limited. I understand the protagonists and feel some sympathy for them, yet I remain emotionally distant throughout the film. Because of that disconnect, the pacing feels heavier than it actually is, turning the experience into one dominated by apathy rather than involvement. The only element that personally resonates with me is Andrea Gibson’s connection to poetry, which reminds me of my girlfriend. Being witness to Poet Laureate Andrea Gibson‘s acceptance and unwavering hope in itself is a beautiful triumph of spirit and resilience, and appreciation of Everything.
