Diana H @Mercedy 1 day ago Where to begin. I was lured in. I didn't want to continue, but couldn't look away. Jon Hamm's characterization seduces you. Stony. Nerdy. Yes, Jon Hamm playing a nerd. That was the invitation. And the world he inhabits. Grey on grey on grey, the color of stone and just as cold and dead. But you keep watching because you can't look away. The story unfolds as slowly as the reactions of the characters, interminable pauses between lines of dialogue. Everyone looking at each other as if to ask, "Do you understand what is going on in this movie?" Everyone has known a fellow office worker like Orson (Jon Hamm), emotionally absent, refusing to join in, but who feels superior. Orson has a special flaw. He sees a room no one else does. While "in" the room, he works on files that end up changing the direction of the company. He is suddenly, a hero. His ride is short-lived. The plot developed well, but the ending was a little unsatisfying (which I think about many movies!). It felt like an itch was being scratched. The characters were as perfectly placed as every item in the corner office. I felt like I truly was inside the mind of Orsin and I rooted for him to the end. Though the plot was predictable, I love how this film made me feel so I give every bit of 5 stars. The negative reviews sound like they’re coming from that guy who wasn’t invited to the party but came anyways, and instead of just keeping his head down, he insists on explaining how bad the party sucks. See more Dakota P @DaCinephile Aug 3, 2026 I want to say it was a good commentary on confidence but that seems too simple. Compliance surely seems to be an idea that permeates throughout as well. Compartmentalize? Can you put existence into boxes so tight it breaks your reality away from others? Who decides the answer to ‘what is reality’? Was I watching what happens when you ignore dissenters no matter the irrefutable evidence they put in front of your eye holes? Or maybe just how much can one get done when they believe beyond what others say isn’t real, or shouldn't be possible?  More important to defining reality: personal experience or physical evidence?
