Authority Inc's newest employee, Orson (Jon Hamm), instantly develops a distaste for his office colleagues, offended by such things as their lackadaisical work habits, their sloppy attire, and even the lack of credibility of a young child's drawing depicting the sun on one of their desks. Determined to be "a person to be reckoned with," he prides himself on his work ethic, hewing to a strict hourly schedule of 55 minutes of intense work followed by a five-minute break. It isn't until Orson discovers an empty, elegantly appointed, wood-paneled office that he finds momentary contentment. Retreating there whenever he can, he discovers that it provides an inner peace that enables him to do his best work, resulting in kudos from his boss and the never seen "EVP" upstairs who truly controls things. His newfound status only increases his co-workers' resentment. More problematically, none of them can see the apparently magical office that serves as Orson's refuge.

A quiet masterpiece! Little is said of films that causes us to examine the necessary but mundane humdrum of working. The quiet mental conversations, counsel, tweeking and re-teeeking of one’s self to fit in and the need for a space, an oasis to unearth one’s best self. Excellently written and executed. Jon Hamm is brilliant ….just brilliant!!!

This won’t be for everyone but for those who enjoy craft and want something different from the rampant fodder plaguing film today then this will be an enjoyable reprieve. Is it brilliant in execution? Part of me thinks yes. There’s something quietly running through this that has me believing so. Little films like this save me from abandoning the entire medium. And Jon Hamm is way more nuanced an actor than he is credited for.

Brilliantly delivered. If wanting spoon fed pablum, this ain't it. If capable of stepping outside of expectations and comfort and into unfamiliar shoes, the journey with Orson will not disappoint.
