The movie delivers a simple story about a young man trying to find his girlfriend, only to discover that she has already moved on after going to college while he is still technically in high school. That setup has some potential, but the movie never really turns it into a story that completely pulls you in. The film does what it needs to do, but it never really captivates or builds toward an arc that makes you truly invested in the characters. The acting is also pretty subpar for the most part. I thought the main boy delivered where he needed to, but much of the supporting cast felt more like afterthoughts, including the new love interest. I think there could have been a lot of readjustment, rebuilding, and reworking of the screenplay to make this much stronger. Instead, the movie seems to do its own thing without fully connecting the pieces, and eventually it falls flat. It’s not a bad movie, but it’s definitely not one I would revisit. I disagree with everyone on here that says that it’s not good… I think these people take themselves way too seriously. It is a movie that is designed to be entertaining and it hits a home run!!! They are not trying to win a freaking Oscar here. The chemistry of the cast is incredible and I absolutely fell in love with the characters. I noticed that it is produced by the Pates…. I wish that they had ended Outer Banks as perfectly as they ended this movie. This is definitely become one of my comfort movies. I will watch it over and over again. Check out sex drive instead. See more Arjun H @RT32673700 Jul 31, 2026 May fortune favour the foolish! Someone described this as similar to breakfast club in ways and I can totally see this. This film packed heart, humour, adventure and character depth. Jeremy’s performance was reminiscent of a young Jesse Eisenberg, and Evie stole every single scene she was in. Jeremy and Evie also shared undeniable chemistry. Aparna was incredible, you really see her come out of her shell and develop as a character, and I love seeing Indian representation on the big screen. Yoshi was soo hilarious man - that mushroom scene had me laughing. This was the best coming of age movie I’ve seen in a damn long time. Everything clicked. At its core this movie was simple, self-aware and didn’t try to do too much. It’s a movie for this younger generation and as someone who understands both film and this generation, everything flowed seamlessly. Kumail Nanjiani you’re such a gem, and Samantha your final scene was delivered exceptionally well.
