Wayne K @WayneKelso Sep 21, 2026 There’s not a tonne of things in Echo Valley you haven’t seen elsewhere, from the central story to the characters and their motivations, the setting or even the twists and turns it takes along the way. Things are elevated by the always excellent Julianne Moore and the occasional appearance by Sydney Sweeney, playing very much against the America’s Sweetheart persona she’s famous for in real life. The scenes later on with villain and heroine in standoff mode get tedious after a while but it does lead to a very satisfying comeuppance, and Domhnall Gleeson makes for a perfectly slimy bad guy. I can’t say it’s especially remarkable, but it’s stabs at family drama and grief hit more often than they miss. Nothing unique, but nothing to sneer at either. The story felt fresh and full of unexpected turns, which kept me hooked all the way through. Story: Beautiful, new, and packed with surprises — solid 2/2. Plot twists: Cleverly done and well thought out — another 2/2. Acting: Moore and Sweeney nailed it with creative performances — 2/2. Effects: A bit lacking here, so I’d say 1/2.
