It takes things back to the very beginning of the evil dead and I love every minute of it. I assure you, this movie is not for the faint hearted. This movie is rough in all perspectives.... Overall, they decided to make the plot more serious and dramatic. But the movie lost that unique atmosphere of classic horror films that was present in the original. The special effects aren’t bad, although by 2013 they could have done a much better and more interesting job. They also could have allocated a larger budget for such a legendary franchise. Although I doubt that would have saved the film with a script like this. There weren’t enough interesting moments. The only thing that really stood out was the final scene with the bloody rain. I grew up watching Evil Dead, and revisiting it now, I was surprised by how well the horror still works. The practical effects, brutal gore, terrifying atmosphere, and Jane Levy's performance still make it an intense experience. I know the characters and story aren't the deepest, and it lacks some of the humor of the originals, but I genuinely don't care.
