02/07/2020 Just read the story. Zero stars. This has never happened before, but I honestly don't have anything positive to say about this film. See more 11/26/2018 This is the first film I've seen, that is devoid of any atmosphere. It begs the question, why was such an amateur production released as a film? It would probably have done reasonably well adapted for the stage and had more atmosphere, who knows? Gwen Watford made a reasonable career, the only actor in this dreadful film who did. See more 01/16/2016 An not so engaging adaptation of a an engaging authors work. The low-budget certainly doesn't help, but it's slow and laborious direction for the most part. See more 11/03/2015 This 1949 low budget production, a "quota quickie", pads the short story with a framing device, and adds a background story involving Rod and Maddy's mother.. I think that even Edgar would b bored. OK sets, but static shots, lifeless performances and dull pacing all interfere with telling the story.
