The extreme tableaus of human body parts might be too much for some viewers, but anyone who can tolerate that kind of gore will be rewarded with a movie that’s never quite what you think it’s going to be next. Go to Full Review

Ghost in the Cell is stuffed with social, political, and religious commentary that’s both sly and in-your-face, something Anwar favors including in his films. Go to Full Review

The contrast of the silliness with brutality may not work for everyone, especially when it equates to unbalanced pacing, choosing to spend long segments on character discussion rather than character dissection. Go to Full Review

If you've watched any of Joko Anwar's previous productions, you'll know that he does not hold back. When he makes a horror movie, nobody is safe, and the violence is often brutally realistic. The kind where limbs are no longer... Go to Full Review

An outrageously funny and bonkers slice of sci-fi horror with just the right blend of comedy, horror and action. Go to Full Review

Cinema S @cinema_sensei Aug 25, 2026 I think the originality is what makes this work. Mixing brutal horror, gore, dark comedy, action, and social commentary inside a prison could have been a complete mess, and sometimes it is—but in an entertaining way. The tonal changes are wild, and not every moment lands, but the atmosphere, creativity, and bizarre horror moments kept me engaged. It's messy, weird, and definitely not for everyone, but I enjoyed the madness more than I expected. See more Kathleen M @vernaperma Aug 22, 2026 A very random, violent, gorefest, comedy, drama from Indonesia. The most tonally weird film I have seen in a while. Still, fun gore and very creative kills (think Hannibal artsy) with some very quick switch tone comedy. See more Blayno @Blayno Aug 22, 2026 Such a fun horror movie. Completely forgot it was a comedy so that was a very nice surprise. See more Linggar A @RT58737787 Aug 10, 2026 Ghost In The Cell sebuah film yang memukau karena lucu dan sekaligus bikin takut yang menjadi satir politik. The gore is really extreme - those who absolutely love that you can be sure it's really something - and the suspense is really good, especially things aren't supposed to be that serious. The opening really catchy since my friends and I thought it was an English Movie or a Malay Movie. Overall it was quite good and balanced. However, the camera movements was a bit janky and unnatural.
