From Sony Pictures Animation, the studio behind Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, comes GOAT, an original action-comedy set in an all-animal world. Tyree Dillihay’s feature debut is a charming ode to the lil guy, but its sports movie arc and lazy plotting means that it only just scrapes a victory.

Despite a wondrously textured, kinetic world and some interesting oddball characters, the movie is undone by a predictable, saccharine script. It’s as easy to see the steps coming as a Curry three-pointer arching into the net.

It's packed with action and has a great story w/ lot of heart & laughter. The animation is superb - if you liked how Spider-Verse looked, you will enjoy this - especially those roarball sequences. An extremely good time!

Aside from the false advertising that the real GOAT, Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, is nowhere to be found in a movie called GOAT, this one is mostly all net for Sony. It’s not GOATed but a winner nonetheless
