Noah H @Noah85 Aug 13 A much bigger improvement over Herbie Rides Again. I’m glad Dean Jones came back, and I’m very happy that this movie made Herbie a race car again because I found the plotline in Herbie Rides Again very boring. The subplot where Herbie falls in love with the Lancia in this movie is also super sweet and hilarious, and so was the gangster plotline involving the diamond. It added a lot more tension to the movie in my opinion. In summary, Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo may not have the hilarious banter between three characters like The Love Bug did, but at least it’s a very fun time and a much bigger improvement over Herbie Rides Again. Rating: 9/10. See more 11/14/2021 Dean Jones returns for this threequel as he takes Herbie to France and Monaco to race. It was nice to see Herbie return to his roots to race again. Don Knotts also stars and the comedic chemistry between him and Dean Jones really worked for me. Plus, I feel this is the first movie from Disney that allowed Don Knotts to be himself and was written well for him. There are a few too many plot lines running through the movie: Winning the race, stopping diamond thieves, and two love stories. One of the love stories involves Herbie falling in love with another car and I thought that story was done really well, you know, for two cars falling for each other. Definitely better than the sequel and I would suggest checking it out. See more Read all reviews
