A young woman named Ann (Lucy Walters) struggles to survive after a mysterious epidemic decimates society. She leads an isolated life and battles the threat of the bloodthirsty survivors who were infected and lurk outside the forest. But when her supplies run low, Ann must make the desperate journey into town to forage for any remaining food. During one of these raids, she meets teenage Olivia (Gina Piersanti) and her stepfather, Chris (Adam David Thompson).

As the flashbacks are dribbled out right up until the final scenes, we are asked to project ourselves back into behavior and decisions made by Ann as a result of her obvious trauma. The problem is that no such convergence exists.

Not sure why this movie was rated so low. I thought it was a decent apocalyptic film. Sure it was kind of slow but I thought it was worth a watch.

Here Alone teases a gripping survival story, but never finds its footing. The film opens with promise, suggesting isolation will build tension and emotional weight, yet that momentum fades into long stretches of silence that feel empty rather than suspenseful. Instead of drawing us into the characters’ inner lives, the quiet creates distance, making it hard to care about what’s happening. Character development is thin, with motivations unclear and relationships underwritten, so the people on screen feel more like placeholders than real survivors. The screenplay leans too far into restraint, offering little dialogue or narrative drive, leaving the story vague and unfocused. Direction and pacing linger without payoff, and moments that could spark dread or empathy simply drift away. By the end, Here Alone feels less like a haunting meditation on isolation and more like a missed opportunity. It isn’t aggressively bad, just bland and disengaging, and that makes it hard to recommend

A decent little post-apocalyptic movie. Kept me entertained and very good acting but unexpectedly so. They didn't overact, which is very often the case in these types of movies.

Decently put together film with a fairly tense atmosphere, but has no real substance... at least not as much as the film would like you to believe. Still, the acting is good and the zombies are somewhat unique / scary. Worth a watch so long as you don't set your expectations too high.
