One Persons Opinion T @RT54080080 5d This movie was not bad , but not my favorite. The beginning first half of the movie was very interesting and I love the use of darkness and silence to build tension in the scenes but ultimately , that all went downhill in the second half. Once the wife started being able to communicate with the ghosts and the ghost, helping her connect with whatever was she was connecting with it got weird in a bad way that was no longer horror but more like an analogy of self and pain of loss. Now I'm not against having movies with a deeper meaning and diving into themes that are deeply emotional but I really feel this movie missed an opportunity to be a very scary feature. The male lead was excellent , and when he was losing his mind and going through fighting the demons and his hallucinations , it really was scary and his performance was believable. The female character was also played well, but I think that her side of the script was very lacking and it felt like watching two different films. See more Cole M. @colemcq Mar 2 First things first this is not a horror movie, it has horror aspects but this is a thriller more then anything. First hour of the film was good and had you thinking that there was a lot more to the house and the demons or ghosts or whatever you assumed was going on by then. (Spoilers) The reveal of the daughter not actually being their daughter was incredible and an amazing plot twist that really tied the story together well on top of showing another side of who our main characters are and what they did to get away from sudan. It honestly puts a whole new perspective on the movie and would probably make watching it a second time a whole new experience. I really want to rate this movie higher and truth is I think it’s a great movie but personally it’s just kind of boring to me, yes the plot was good and the characters and acting are good too but something just falls flat to me. I think it’s probably the “villain” (apeth) as well as the ending feeling underwhelming and the plot holes of the refugee services letting them stay after trashing the place.
