This spoof comedy is silly, goofy, and over-the-top, never pretending to be serious. Rob Schneider commits to the outrageous character, while Rachel McAdams makes her role work, too. The film knows exactly what kind of comedy it wants to deliver. I wish the screenplay explored Rachel’s side more deeply instead of focusing so heavily on Rob’s character. Giving both perspectives more room could have added depth, but the story is clearly interested in the hot-chick premise. Even so, there is creativity in this small, silly world, and the characters keep the comedy moving. Ultimately, The Hot Chick is ridiculous entertainment that keeps you invested in its characters. It is not something I would watch all the time, but it succeeds at being goofy and fun. I recommend it when you want a movie that knows how silly it is and leans into it.
