Sam P @laniakea Mar 22 For anyone who doesn't know this is based on the true story of Perth serial killer couple David and Catherine Birnie aka the Moorhouse murders in 1986. Absolutely horrifying because it's a true story. Look it up and read the story and you'll see that this actually happened. However, the real story doesnt end like the movie. However, the characters are largely limited to the strange relationship of the two killers, which I found a little uninteresting, and the ending was okay but could have been better. Lastly, that no one is surprised like I was when they read that Stephen Curry is in this film, it's not the guy most people would probably expect. See more Jon H @RT91803957 Jul 28 Decent film if a little underwhelming. Very basic plot, that’s more than a little predictable. But well acted, well shot and worth a watch. Couple of small gripes, there’s a scene towards the end which is clearly taken from Silence of the Lambs, you’ll know it when you see it. Also the soundtrack is awful, with the exception of Nights in White Satin. It’s a fairly straightforward film that’s neither going to amaze or massively disappoint. Watching it is fairly engaging, but it’s not a film that’s going to have you thinking for days after seeing it. It’s a basic premise that plays out without any huge twists or surprises. Pitching this film to the studio couldn’t have taken longer than two minutes. But hey, at least it stays grounded unlike certain similar themed films…. Cough cough…… The Black Phone. I watched the Arrow Film Blu Ray, I turned it off on first viewing, even though you don't see what happens in some seems you know what is happening which made it more disturbing for me On second viewing I knew what to expect and liked the film very much, based/inspired by a true story of a Serial killer couple in the 80s this film is well shot, well acted... Very gritty. Probably my favourite Australian film. What makes the feel disturbing/scary is that it could happen to anyone on anyday. Stephen Curry did a very convincing performance. See more Jan S @RT44290076 06/05/2024 I cannot recommend this film. Although well shot and well acted, watching it did nothing more than deeply upset me. I think? it suggests that the complicit female is a victim, but her choices and conduct are ultimately worth imprisonment, not empathy. Spoiler alert: I stayed with it until the unsatisfying end in hopes that the actual victim would remedy my horror with revenge against her captors. Alas, no such luck.
