In this sharp, irreverent comedy, a disgraced fashion designer with a dangerously low credit score, Margarita (Anna Baryshnikov) enters a reality show with a six-figure cash prize to save her babushka's West Hollywood apartment. But as the competition intensifies, slick producer Nicol (Camila Mendes) pushes her to spin her family's struggle into spectacle, forcing Margarita to decide whether to play along or take control of her own narrative, one unhinged look at a time.

A game cast can’t quite put this one over the top, though there are acidic bits of observation about the way people in that industry talk about themselves, and to each other. Go to Full Review

It’s a hilarious story that captures the difficulty, but joy of family relationships. The claustrophobic immigrant, multigenerational family home is probably something all children of immigrants can relate to. I think it would appeal to anyone who loved My Big, Fat Greek Wedding, and certainly, anyone from any of the former Soviet states. The details (those plush robes!) felt so accurate. Visually and musically, it was bright, poppy, and fun. The satire never felt heavy and the dialogue, with the interchange of languages, was just so well done! It’s one of those stories where something so specific can feel so universal. See more Read all reviews
