Chie 1 @Chieallen 6d This movie asks you to suspend your disbelief and your cognitive reasoning skills in order for it to make any kind of sense. I mean, this young architect designs a preposterously large house for him and his wife, complete with a secret dungeon, long before he meets the girl he imprisons there. Who designs a house with a prison, especially before the need arises for one? And then the wife, a mild, cancer – stricken woman who could scarcely take care of herself, with scant evidence of anything being amiss , decides to go to the low end trailer park where the police say a collection of criminals live and breaks into a vehicle for no apparent reason, raids the glove box to find a key, conducts a home invasion and then a robbery from a post box. This absurd sequence is followed by a housewarming party in the middle of nowhere, near a tiny, dusty New Mexican town which is apparently filled with well/healed urban yuppies who come to the party. There’s absolutely zero motive for anyone to intrude the home twice. I rarely abandon a movie but this one was a bore. Her husband is bending over backwards to make her happy providing for her, supporting her through cancer and she still gives him hell because he kept a gun in the house… the same gun that literally saved them.
