Jockey rests almost entirely on Clifton Collins Jr. in the title role -- and he proves more than up to the task with a brilliant performance that gives this poignant drama its soul.

It sounds cheesy, but the novice writer-director Clint Bentley, whose father was a jockey, brings a radical realism to the tale. Go to Full Review

Worthy successor of Rocky's spirit and Clint Eastwood classicism, Jockey may not surprise too much, but even on well-trodden ground, it displays a sensitivity, rigor, and nobility that are undoubtedly enjoyed and appreciated. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

We loved it. See more Doreen S 02/06/2022 It was refreshing to watch a film with character development, good acting and a human story. Missing so much these days. Clifton Collins deserves award consideration for his performance. See more Dan Hoskins 02/01/2022 Great story.. great cast See more Adam S @RT63460917 5d The most accurate representation of race track life. Period. I was hesitant to watch this movie. I expected another "Seabiscuit" or some other idiotic representation of the track. But what I watched is real life. Clifton is every old timer I’ve ever met. Trying to do good by someone who will never appreciate it, just to make sure they are safe and succeed where the hero failed. This movie felt real. I felt like I knew everyone on screen, felt like I’ve watched this drama play out on every track from Woodbine to Churchill, Fairgrounds to Hollywood Park. Clifton: thank you for getting it right. 🙏 See more Madam D @Madam1948 06/01/2025 Horse racing is an evil sport, for horses & humans. Watching this jockey on his last legs was quite sad, especially with everyone deserting him. Lead actor did a great job. See more Read all reviews
