Critics Consensus

Kraken rewards patient viewers with impressive creature-feature spectacle and mounting tension, even if its deliberate buildup and well-worn storytelling dilute the impact of its strongest moments.

It starts with great promise and a visually dynamic monster attack sequence. Then it settles into a mostly formulaic groove. Go to Full Review

While handsomely crafted, Kraken better serves its didactic messaging than its monster. Go to Full Review

The characterisation is correspondingly lightweight, but Khorami has a calming, earth mother-type presence that renders this eco lecture-cum-rampage strangely palatable. Go to Full Review

Øie’s ability to execute the basics isn’t enough to overcome what turns out to be just another soggy, so-so dud that can’t deliver on the promise of aquatic horror exceptionality. Go to Full Review

The dialogue and loosely written characters are fine enough, but it’s the investigation and the bloody events that lead us to the showdown that are really unexpectedly intense. Go to Full Review

Emily I @RT29209339 4d Everybody hype this movie up to be something so out of this world to see and I was so ready to watch it so I finally found it dubbed over in English paid $6.99 for the movie just to rent it and when I tell you, this is the most trash movie I’ve seen in a while very much be rated. In my opinion there was not enough plot. The movie didn’t really make a whole lot of extra sense it was just playing, and I almost fell asleep through the movie and it was not holding my attention as I thought it was mind you I’ve waited almost 2 months just to watch the freaking movie and finally watched it and I’m very much disappointed and angry. I had to write a review. I went full Karen on this review. See more cyprien N @cyprien Jun 18 Kraken was way more intense than i expected the story keeps the pressure on and there's always this feeling that something big is about to happen definitely the kind of movie that keeps your attention the whole way through. See more Haricots T @RT14767638 Jun 17 This film promised great things in its trailer, but when i watched it, all I saw were bad special effects, especially when the actress is caught by the kraken and supposed to be underwater, it's just her and a green screen with a blue filter . Furthermore the acting wasn't really good , and the main actress didn't really fit the role . I do not recommend this film.
