Combining a proudly queer coming-of-age story with a wild sense of humor, Lesbian Space Princess is a raucous animated adventure with a big heart to go along with its rebellious spirit.

Unchallenging and sometimes clichéd but ultimately good queer fun, this just about balances zany humour with earnestness, boosted by terrific comic creations the Straight White Maliens. Go to Full Review

The gender satire might have been darker or more pointed, yet the mood is warm, endearing and giddy. Go to Full Review

Despite some missteps, directors Varghese and Hough Hobbs clearly have put a lot of love into this project, an independent animation that showcases the brightness of queer joy in the darkness. Go to Full Review

It's clear the film is heavily inspired by several animated comedies from 'Cartoon Network,' unfortunately it has no idea how to effectively replicate them. Go to Full Review

Lesbian Space Princess is a well-crafted, colorful animated film where queer, quirky humor and emphatic lesbian representation come together in a vibrant, playful package. It may not work for everyone, but it’s destined to become a cult classic. Go to Full Review

Zack P @RT45899173 4 hrs ago It isn't for everyone, but if it's your humor, you will *love* it. I loved the hell out of this. I did not stop laughing the entire time. Calling out straight white males, good guy culture, that all added to it. I finished the books Architecti and the first two of Gideon the Ninth so I was already in that whole mindset before watching this film. It's like if Powerpuff Girls, Centaur World, and Steven Universe all had an X-Rated baby. Slapstick, doing something long enough it becomes funnier, dry comments made in the background of an argument, the is completely my humor. Again. Not everyone will enjoy it because it either isn't aimed at them or simply isn't their humor. But for the niche it does target, it does an amazing job at what it wants to do. This is also coming from a mostly straight, white, cis-male. See more ShckledRven T @ShackledRaven 18 hrs ago When a movie is rated this high I need to speak up. I must say the movie really does suck. The animation is the least bad of it, but even that isn’t great. Any fight scene is just painful to watch because one character just sits there while the other lets out a lame swing. But the main problem is the pointless plot and the characters. Saira is so insufferable.. She’s so obsessed with Kiki for no damn reason other than her looks and popularity. Kiki is an absolute D-bag, Willow is a side character with no real use who’s super dumb, Saira’s parents suck in every way, and there were random genitals as characters. The maliens and the ship were kinda funny in the beginning but they fell apart of course. The movie makes lesbians (and women in general) sound and act so fatuous. Every queer character is in poor taste. The voice acting also is annoying and the songs are unlistenable. I cannot fit everything I wanna say but I did enjoy the maliens and the ship’s voice acting and very few jokes. See more Jian Piero L @JianPiero 18 hrs ago I really enjoyed this. Pure queer joy. I went into it thinking it might be something geared toward children, but it quickly becomes clear that this is aimed more toward an adult audience and the culture of today rather than being a traditional family-friendly animated film. Unfortunately, I found the story to be all over the place and extremely difficult to connect with. The main character’s journey never really gave me a reason to become invested in her, and instead of feeling strong and independent, her character often came across as desperate and unsure of herself. There was an opportunity to build something much more meaningful, but the story never seemed to find that direction. The film felt unnecessarily long and disconnected, and I kept waiting for something to happen that would pull everything together. Instead, it continued feeling like a joke without enough substance behind it. See more Read all reviews
