Critics Consensus

Lift may be a passable streaming option for viewers seeking mindless entertainment, but that doesn't excuse its thinly written characters or formulaic, haphazardly written story.

It's another disappointing action movie from Netflix, which has a very spotty record in this space. Go to Full Review

Any film that begins with an elaborate, broad daylight heist deserves viewers' attention. It's what comes between that intro and the film's adrenalin-pumping final hour that may give Netflix audiences reasons to take a refrigerator break. Go to Full Review

Despite its sizable budget and the appeal of its cast, [Lift] quickly fades into the vast landscape of heist cinema. [Full Review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Lift disputes the case that nobody cares about art until it’s stolen. For a Netflix title, there is an irony when it comes to creative works being canceled or halted, thus being taken away from the hands of the public. Go to Full Review

Overall, Lift is a fun film with beautiful scenery, but you probably won’t get any frequent flyer miles or first-class upgrades out of any rewatches. Enjoy the smooth air and give the movie a try. Go to Full Review

Marco L @decatur555 2 hrs ago A bad, bland and instantly forgettable heist comedy, made worse by the fact that it is supposed to be light, fast and fun but actually made me fall asleep halfway through. The setup has familiar ingredients that could have worked: a team of thieves, an impossible airborne robbery, gold, technology, chases, a former romance and Kevin Hart as the charming mastermind. But everything feels algorithmic and second-hand. Hart never sells the elegant thief or irresistible leader, the humor has no spark, and the supporting cast is wasted as a set of labels rather than characters. The action is busy but impersonal, the plan advances because the script says so, and the twists rarely surprise or delight. It wants to be a slick modern heist movie, but has none of the wit, chemistry or pleasure that make the genre fun. Not outrageous, just flat, hollow and boring. It does not steal gold; it steals time. See more Tarun V @RT58521472 1 day ago A complete waste of time. Boring, disappointing, and not worth watching. Netflix has better options. See more S. O @Col._Angus Aug 1, 2026 The worst part about this movie is that it actually took itself seriously. It would've been much better as a comedy. I mean, Soulplane was more believable. That said, the drone-shots were nice. See more diogo13 T @Tua_mera Jul 16, 2026 Um filme de assalto genérico que peca pela total falta de charme e química entre o elenco. See more Karthik Y. @madkarthi Jun 7, 2026 Kevin Hart is playing a serious role this time instead of his usual loud comedy characters. While it is different to see him like this. it just feels a bit off and doesn't save the movie. The team dynamics and the action sequences on the plane feel very artificial and generic. There is absolutely no genuine tension or charm in the script. It is a very weak and skippable heist film. See more Ben N @Bneffer Apr 13, 2026 Haphazardly written, laughable at times. The actors are great, the story and plot are dumb. There are worthwhile scenes, looking at you, external screens. Silly, trivial. Not very funny, though it try to be, but not with the right actors. Ultimately, a pass. See more Read all reviews
