Carla Gugino plays a woman, Ellen, who recently lost her mother, after a time as her caregiver. She invites her troubled cousin, Winthrop, to stay with her, while he gets himself together. Winthrop suffers from a lifetime of trauma; watching his parents killed in a car accident as a child, raised by a an uncle who beat him, and more trauma, while in the military. For an hour we watch Winthop's struggle to socialize and live his life. During this time, we are introduced to a neighbor, who is odd , pushy, and clearly not what she seems. The last 30 minutes takes a sharp turn into the supernatural. Gugino does well with what she was given, but the film never does anything interesting. It's boring and a bit silly.
