Cameron C @Cameron323 6d For me, this is the greatest Macbeth ever. It is just so intense, dark, heavy and cinematic. I don't know if it could be any better. One of those movies where you just want the direct and actors and producers to get the acknowledgement they deserve for this masterpiece. 10/10 See more Kenneth C @Wisedove Apr 24 Atmospheric, perhaps overly so. The battle scenes are preposterous. Instead of wearing helmets and chain-mail in the battle scenes, the armies fight bare-headed and are dressed in padded, loose, fusty-looking clothes that provide them no protection as they fight with swords. And where were the archers and the knights on horseback? This is not how medieval armies fought their wars. As for the actors, they are first class, but the director fails to use them effectively. The result is a slow and ponderous production of Shakespear's tragedy. See more Gordon G @GG2025 Dec 11 An innovative and brooding interpretation of Shakespeare’s "Scottish play." Amazing landscapes and battle scenes and brilliant casting of the leads. The witches are used in a compelling way throughout, and the ending suggests future competition for the throne. Well worth watching as a modern interpretation of this classic play. See more Alec B @Alec97 12/14/2023 The text is just disregarded here, true the play's words are spoken (well whispered ominously) but there's no real effort put forth to give them meaning or purpose, which would explain all the overly dramatic pauses you could drive a bus through. Kurzel's focus was on the violence and flashy visuals, which combined with heavy cuts to the play makes this film adaption seem both rushed and overlong. See more Read all reviews
