Truth is, if Disney had a little more guts, they would have made this a trilogy, and given it the care that other major fantasy epics receive.

Once the battles get going, the film is really pretty exciting.

It goes down easy, thanks to a colorful palette and Woolverton's refusal to soft-pedal the nefarious lengths Queen Ingrith will go to carry out her anti-fairy agenda.

When Pfeiffer and Jolie are together in a scene, it is absolute fire. The icy glares, the shade, THE CHEEKBONES... this is what I came to see.

This movie is wacky.
