Genuinely sophisticated (based on the ideas of Russian philosopher Vladimir Soloviev) the film is basically the reflection of the Soloviev's "Three talks..." book. The ideas are presented to a viewer through complex conversations about God, life meaning, war and peace, compassion and many others. One can be really baffled by the complexity of philosophical reflections, but at the same time the movie provides a viewer with a stunning picture, gorgeous ensemble cast and a meticulous (the film's running time is 3 and a half hours) depiction of a 19th century manor and social interaction happening there.
