What to Know

Critics Consensus

Serving up Timothée Chalamet at his most infectiously charismatic, Marty Supreme is a propulsive epic that realizes its sky-high aspirations even while it critiques its indelible hero's toxic ambition.

A gripping odyssey about a nobody who wants to be somebody, Marty Supreme unfolds like a game of table tennis: explosive, unpredictable, and defined by agile movements executed with both passion and precision.

John Anderson America Magazine Feb 10
What’s predictable enough is how effortlessly Chalamet generates sympathy for Marty Mauser, who in the cold light of the final credits deserves very little of it. But such is what movie stars do. Go to Full Review

Safdie transforms a sports saga into a biting portrait of ambition, class, and identity. [It’s] a relentless odyssey of purpose and survival, where every hustle feels like a defiant claim to value in a world eager to deny it. Go to Full Review

...the movie is basically a picaresque dark comedy juiced up with violent slapstick and audacious stunt casting, with Chalamet stunting the hardest of all. Go to Full Review
Andrew Wyatt The Take-Up 3d
A dizzying, richly textured, and darkly comic whirldwind of a movie. Chamelet delivers a mesmerizing, roman-candle performance, but Safdie and all of his collaborators are equally locked in on the centrality of scams to the American identity. Go to Full Review

Marty navigates the pitfalls in his life that he unwittingly creates himself, and it becomes an increasingly chaotic, cathartic, and sometimes comedic journey of introspection and self-discovery. Go to Full Review

Ryan 2h Am I supposed to be rooting for this dude, Marty ??! See more Pesto P @RT28407522 2d I’m huge fan of the Safdie brothers, but this one blew their other films away. The complex plot was held together by incredible prefaces, many by people who aren’t actors. Marty was both inspiring and annoying. And Gwyneth Paltrow finally got a role that matches her skills. This director lives the human story, and this film insatiably explores our ability to destroy, create, gamble, and love in ways that few do today. See more Tyler 3d Best movie ever in 2026 please make second one 🙌🏼🙌🏼 See more Ben 4d Darker, sadder, and more unrealistic than I anticipated. It was nice seeing Gwenyth Paltrow back on the big screen though. See more Jillian 5d great experience at the movies See more Karen H 5d One of the worst movies Ive ever seen. It was confusing, unusually loud, and unlikable characters. The story line was unimpressive and boring. Wish I stayed home instead of watching this dumb movie. See more Read all reviews
