I thought the story was going to develop into something bigger and more compelling, but instead, it felt much more like a typical Lifetime movie than a feature film with a stronger cinematic experience. It was not terrible, but it was not great either. The overall presentation felt rather bland and troubling, especially when it came to the casting choices. I think the movie suffered from several delivery and creative problems that kept it from reaching its potential. There were opportunities to take the story further, build more tension, and create something that would keep the audience invested. Instead, the film seemed to play things safe, and the screenplay never developed into the kind of story I was hoping to see. Ultimately, Mommy Is a Murderer is a fairly forgettable experience. It is not necessarily awful, but it does not offer enough substance to make it stand out See more bri V @creativewritercritic Oct 9, 2026 this movie is not nearly as good as the plot suggests. unfortunately the actors aren’t great, the movie takes too long to get to the point, and i was never on the edge of my seat, wondering what will happen next, like i expect from any good thriller. also, the dialogue for the 8yr old is way too witty to be realistic, as well as having voice overs probably due to filming since the movie came out in 2020. it quite literally ends the same way matilda does with mrs. honey. just not worth the watch honestly. Truly I am grateful I stumbled upon this movie. The plot is great, however I do not think I could have picked worse actors to be in this movie. I probably could have written, produced directed and starred in this movie and could have done a better job. If you're in the mood to watch a comedy, I highly suggest this one.
