A disquieting and mysterious mirage of a film. Go to Full Review
Dennis Harvey Variety 10/20/2017
Though it drifts off into the ozone at the end, for most of its running time, "Never Here" is a low-key but effective psychological thriller which flirts with that looming issue of the social-media age: privacy, and the invasion thereof. Go to Full Review

Artful and atmospheric to the max, "Never Here" is a study in personality disintegration dressed up as a whodunit. Go to Full Review

There may be some viewers willing to find meaning in the various puzzles Theron puts on screen, but the rest of us will be far too disinterested to care by the time the credits roll. Go to Full Review
David Bax Battleship Pretension 12/11/2020
There's a lot about the plot (for lack of a better word) of Never Here that I can't be quite sure about, in fact, though that's far from a complaint. It becomes harder to see the deeper into the blackness you go. Go to Full Review

Tomi L @RT57839261 Jul 29 Very underrated film that harkens back to 70s thrıllers with solid acting performance from the lead See more ronald h @RT44372985 12/07/2020 I've always thought Mireille Enos was a pretentious actress. In this film, she plays Miranda Fall, a pretentious conceptual artist in the pretentious New York art scene. After she has a roll in bed with her married agent (Sam Shepard, in his last role), her agent looks out the window and sees a man attacking a woman in the street. Since it would be awkward for him to call the cops, she does, and gives them a description of the attacker based on her lover's recollections. Sound familiar? The exact same scenario was used in _The Bedroom Window_, a very bad 1987 thriller. Eventually, Miranda suspects that someone is stalking her. It could be a disgruntled man whose cell phone she found and turned it into a piece of conceptual art, revealing his GPS locations, pictures, etc. Pretentious New York art scene, remember? Yes, I know I've used the word "pretentious" four times so far. This movie has the fundamental problem of the characters being so pretentious (yes, five times now) that we don't care a flying flip for them. Therefore, all the suspense is sucked out of the story. This is a total loser of a film, unless perhaps you're a member of the pretentious New York art scene. This is the first review I've ever written in which I used the word "pretentious" six times. I couldn't think of any synonyms. Well, maybe "horse crap," but that's a noun. See more 08/20/2018 Dragged on far too long! If I did drugs, might have enjoyed it! I could walk away, and come back. And still not find out what was going on! It could've been a 35 minute film, instead of the 2 hours. Glad I didn't have to pay. See more 02/05/2018 I loved the feel and performances in this movie.
