A stellar cast, skilled musical score composers, and a solid set of inspirations combine to little beyond an uninspiring drama at best, or a leery piece of pulp deserving of eyerolls at worst.

So ludicrously over-the-top...
September 16, 2019
[I]t all turns out to be ridiculously far-fetched and dated in feel.
September 13, 2019
Trouble is, there are too many leaps of illogic to sustain the seeds of a good idea, and with so many engrossing small-screen offerings around, the ante for delivering the thriller-killer goods has been well and truly upped.

You're going to want to break out your crime cliche bingo card early, lest you miss the full house.

For a film so desperate to be Zodiac, everyone would have seen this one coming.
September 13, 2019
It's defined by a constipated performance from Cavill and a debut screenplay from the film director David Raymond that's so titter-inducing and derivative that it appears to have come straight from the Spike Jonze satire Adaptation.

As far as you can work out, the film isn't aiming for slippery Lynchian dream logic or head-scratching dead ends, just stumbling into that arena through sheer confusion.

A surfeit of plot succeeds only in confusing the story, not complicating it in the kind of way that might have made its big twist the sort of jaw-dropping revelation it clearly wants to be.

This is such twaddle it becomes kind of fun, except that there's an uncomfortable feeling - as with many vigilante movies - that the film is revelling in the sexual violence and covering itself with the fig leaf of justice-seeking.

September 9, 2019
Whatever whiff of genius may have been present on the page to have attracted such a recognisable cast is entirely missing from first-time writer-director David Raymond's execution.
September 7, 2019
Overly serious, slow, clunky, and confusing, this generic thriller tries to take aim at sexual predators, but it ultimately can't shake its grim attitude toward its own female characters.
September 6, 2019
Lacking the narrative dexterity to balance elements of a psychothriller and a police procedural, this bland crime drama squanders its intriguing premise with formulaic execution.
September 6, 2019
Testing the limits of good taste in otherwise formulaic grimdark entertainment is one thing, but pushing against those boundaries for its own sake is just tiresome.
September 6, 2019
Night Hunter only has two things to offer: a foul attitude toward women and a messy jumble of plot.
September 5, 2019
"Night Hunter" features some absolutely batty plot twists and crazy contrivances that would almost be fun if Raymond hadn't pitched this film as something somber and revelatory - like "Seven" or "Silence of the Lambs."
September 5, 2019
It has more characters than it knows what to do with and a story that any fan of the last twenty or so years of thrillers will be able to stay ahead of at every turn. T
