It's 1943. The Allies are determined to break Hitler's grip on occupied Europe, and plan an all-out assault on Sicily; but they face an impossible challenge -- how to protect a massive invasion force from potential massacre. The melodrama of the unlikely romance is a minor distraction. “Operation Mincemeat” is well-crafted. Michelle Ashford’s script ably handles the intrigue while maintaining tension and injecting dry humor.

The premise is unbelievable. I was board throughout the movie and only continued watching because I was curious about the resolution, and to watch some of my favorite actors. Otherwise, I think the producers and studios wasted their money on this particular story.

Just got back from visiting the very excellent WWII Museum in Sicily where I learned for the first time about operation mincemeat and how successful it made one of the most important operations in WWII Europe. This movie provides the incredible details of what it took to make this important deception successful. Well done!

A perfect film based on a true story. Realistic, serious with a plausible romance and a great cast. Mostly dialogue and very little action. Other reviews say it is old fashioned. We are both of a certain age which may be why we enjoyed it so much. Definitely recommend if you like films that are not jokey or full of long and tedious action scenes. Only strange thing I noticed was that all the young women in the UK intelligence office seemed to have dark hair. Strange and unlikely.
