Instead of feeling fun and energetic, the movie comes across as overly cheesy and weighed down by weak writing that struggles to keep the audience engaged. The screenplay is easily the film’s biggest problem. The jokes rarely land, scenes drag longer than they should, and the story feels disconnected for most of the runtime. Rather than building momentum, the movie constantly feels like it is stumbling through random ideas without any real direction. The cast does what they can with the material, but the performances are not enough to save the film from its outdated comedic style and lack of originality. It relies heavily on familiar faces and old-school humor, but instead of feeling nostalgic, it feels tired and uninspired. Overall, Operation Taco Gary’s is a forgettable and lackluster comedy that never becomes as funny or entertaining as it clearly wants to be.
