Pinocchio Unstrung is a surprisingly entertaining horror film that's a love letter to practical effects and old-fashioned animatronics. Rhys Frake-Wakefield has crafted a disturbing reimagining of Pinocchio that doesn’t get its strings tied up in knots.

An unnecessary amount of gore cannot cover up an incredibly weak plot, bizarre character choices, blatant sexism, and seemingly underage nudity?? The puppet work was very cool, and some of the themes were really intriguing. I just wish they were in a different movie

Pinocchio Unstrung is easily the best Poohniverse movie in The Twisted Childhood Universe. With twists and outstanding makeup effects, Impressive practical effects, dark humor, is all this movie needs to be, and all it focuses on being – let the mashup movie justify itself when it comes. The gory kills deliver as they should, but Pinocchio's emotional immaturity could make you root for him to be redeemed. And stand-out vocal performance by horror icon Robert Englund as the malevolent Cricket.
