KK Jun 5, 2026 Based on RT reviews, I decided to check this one out. While okay, all these 4 and 5-star ratings are unwarranted. This was an average slasher thriller, at best. There is some weak cgi. Yuck! While the premise is engaging, the execution of it entirely is muddled. I did appreciate the characters, along with the acting from them. The antagonist (Randy Couture) says little and instead huffs, grunts and trods throughout, which quickly became tiresome to me. Normally, I like the bad guys (I’m weird lol), but this one I wanted vanquished asap. Collider called it Michael Myers with a bow & arrow—that’s certainly laughable!! No it’s a low-budget movie with cheap jump scares, crappy music ambience and an annoying forest rampager. The movie is littered with nonsensical situations and solutions—especially in the 3rd part. For me, the acting is what saved this movie from being a total disaster—especially Lars. Well done Lars! But everything else, including the incessant whining and depression, only became more grating as time went on. And the truck, how many times are you going to show snippets of the truck!?!? Some of the special effects are kind of bad at times but still good overall. Although I would’ve liked to see more fight/action scenes with the main group of friends and the guy hunting them this is a great movie I’d definitely recommend it. It starts by showing us characters in danger, surely at the end of their rope, and some generic, menacing redneck who has finally come face to face with them after relentlessly stalking them. From this point forward, the movie cannot effectively rachet up any tension because it's already revealed to us the exact nature of the danger. Regardless, Pitfall's characters do not inspire us to care either way. You could easily insert Pitfall in as one of the forgettable Wrong Turn sequels. This movie brings nothing unique to the genre, and is poorly crafted. It even lacks atmosphere, as the lighting in scenes look more like a film set, than a claustrophobic, mysterious forest.
