Skyler K @Relyks1883 3d As a young man, I had little to no expectations regarding this film; but I was shocked and plesantly surprised at how good it really was. My initial reason to watch this film was solely because I had heard there was an Amphicar in it, and I hadnt ever seen one in a film before. This film manages to take the moon landing in a much further direction than the idealized version we would think it to go. The highly disfunctional family structure for me, personally bring so much more out of all the characters. Eatch end up leaving their comfort zones, some in a very literal sense, others in a more unique way. Without giving any spoilers, this is one of those storys similar to the film, Stand By Me, where the destination may seem to be the reason for the story, but the journey is whre the characters may not fully overcome their problems, but become more self aware of the beauty in life, the journey, and family. I rank this film high on my personal favories list; it truly is worth a watch! See more 12/04/2009 If there is some sort of deep meaning to this film, it completely escapes me, and I was too bored to try and figure it out. Ted Danson's flamboyant portrayal failed to convince, Mary Steenburgen is good, but her character in the film is so annoying. Just plaid dumb. See more 11/04/2009 a story inspired by Neil Armstrong's quote, <i>"that one step of man, one giant leap of mankind." </i> But one does not need to step on the moon to understand what it means. Pontiac Moon tells the story of a dysfunctional family, an irresponsible father who never listens to anybody, a mother who's crippled with fear caused by an accident, and a child who hasn't known how to enjoy life around him ---- and that crazy trip to the Spires of the Moon that's both eventful and momentous as they learn a lesson or two from each other. I like introspective films. And this one will surely go to my list of favorites. The characters are so well-played, especially that of Andy (Ryan Todd). He played his character with such depth and sincerity that I find very touching. See more 06/27/2008 This is my all time favorite movie. Watch it!
