01/10/2022 It's a pity that a movie that put so much into the special effects put so little effort into the acting. The frequent anti-black racist tropes were really offensive. See more 12/20/2020 Such terrible acting and CGI, really a waste of time. See more 05/05/2019 Terrible acting, effects and everything See more 05/03/2018 It is really, REALLY bad. See more 05/25/2016 What a joke of a movie. See more 05/09/2016 If you want to rent San Andreas with Dwayne Johnson, don't rent _this_ movie. It has a similar title and a similar premise, but it's most definitely not Dwayne Johnson's movie. I've since learned this direct-to-video film was produced by the studio that did Sharknado. They specialize in low-budget films that are often heavily inspired by big-budget blockbusters. This version even has a shot that's almost identical to one from the San Andreas trailer, of a helicopter flying between collapsing office towers. This movie isn't completely horrible, but it's pretty bad. The plot is full of clichés, the acting is mediocre at best, and the special effects are not particularly special. I don't think the film makers were trying to be funny like they were with Sharknado, although there's a scene with a couple of CGI hippopotamuses that is just laugh-out-loud ridiculous (I suppose the moral might be don't try to escape from an earthquake by taking a short cut through a zoo). Thankfully, it's a short movie, just 84 minutes. This is probably best seen with some friends or family members who like to mock films while you watch them. See more Read all reviews
