This is the true story that inspired the hit German Original Series How To Sell Drugs Online (Fast). In February 2015, Maximilian Schmidt, known online as Shiny Flakes, was arrested for selling approx. 4.1 million euros worth of drugs -- from his childhood bedroom. Using his own website shinyflakes.com and the German postal service, at 19-years old he ran an international drugs empire by himself -- selling one ton of drugs over 14 months. It's one of the largest cybercrime-cases known in Germany, and the police still don't know where most of the money is. In this documentary, Maximilian tells his story.

Nick Schager The Daily Beast 08/04/2021
The primary hook of Shiny_Flakes: The Teenage Drug Lord is the fact that the unassuming Schmidt did all this with little more than a computer, some technological know-how, and an assortment of scales and packaging equipment. Go to Full Review

Given that Netflix has already launched a three-season drama based on Schmidt's drug selling career, this documentary seems like a stamp of approval on the young man's unrepentant audacity and cleverness. Go to Full Review

daniel n @Daniel1 10/31/2021 What a fascinating story. Schmidt is interesting young man which in itself makes this documentary very worthwhile watching. And, in a way, this documentary can serve as a lesson to all of us just how much a few technical skills, a bit of audacity and a "just do it" mentality can bring. See more 10/24/2021 Liked it. Interesting charakter and the way they told his story was quite unique and good to follow. See more ashley s @Aly13G 08/10/2021 This is a movie about a genius kid called Maximilian Schmidt who uses his wit to open up his online drug business. And I must say, this kid deserves applause! See more Dave C 08/06/2021 Really well presented documentary! Absolutely loved it. The mix of interviews, reconstructive dramatisations, and opinions of those involved in the case, all work to cohesively tell the story of what and how this could happen. Not to mention Schmidt being an interesting character in his own right, regardless of how his actions are presented See more Michael W @mawilps 08/04/2021 This Netflix documentary was really good. Max Schmidt and the entire crew did an excellent job in bringing this true story to life. This story about a young teenager who sold drugs online from his own home was shocking, thrilling, and dramatic. It's an interesting story on how this business works and how smart some people can be no matter how old they are. If you're a Netflix member, you should watch this documentary sometime. It's worth watching. See more 08/04/2021 The kid has charisma and I love his cockiness about the whole thing even at the end after serving jail time. See more Read all reviews
