Melissa M @Lisey 5d Ham & cheese award goes to William Shatner. He often starred in cheesy movies or shows. And is acting is pretty hammy. But as Dr Spock would say "That's fascinating Captain". Chris Pine as Captain Kirk is like when Ben Affleck played Batman. His portrayal of the characters is 😕 Meh & somewhat watchable. The rest of the cast of the iconic characters Of Star Trek is perfectly cast. The plot of rebel aliens helping the heroes is not original. But the movie does have some pretty awesome special effects. The acting for the most part is not half bad. There are some funny moments like when the Captain is attacked by what looks gremlin versions of Jim Henson's Muppets in the beginning of the film. Simon Pegg playing the character of Scotty he's bloody brilliant. He has some of the best one-liners. This film is something the whole family can watch. It's hard to improve on a classic. But this movie gets an A- for effort. See more MC R @RT91491190 May 22 Beyond is maybe the least of the JJ Abrahams trilogy. I still think is a steady movie. How cool it is that Idris Elba is in the movie as a villain. I though it was a weak villain. Elba did his best though. Loved the tribute to Leonard Nimoy after his passing. It was even beautiful that they even showed a picture with Nimoy and the original Star Trek cast! It was also the last movie for Anton Yelchin after his passing. He did a great job in this franchise and I enjoyed his character. Star Trek: Beyond is the last movie of this cast. For years their were rumors about a fourth installment. Sadly it never seen the light this day! I don't think there ever be a fourth movie. But ho knows! I enjoyed rewatching this movies though! The cast works really well together, and the crew finally gets a chance to shine as a true team. The movie has a strong sense of momentum, with exciting action scenes, solid humor, and a few emotional moments that give it more heart than just another sci-fi blockbuster. It also captures the spirit of exploration that Star Trek is known for. What makes it stand out most is how entertaining it is from start to finish. It feels bigger, smoother, and more polished than the earlier films, while still staying true to the characters. Overall, Star Trek Beyond is a very satisfying sequel and a 9/10 in my book.
