Not a great movie in the sense that it describes the human condition. It simply is a fun picture that will appeal to those who enjoy Buck Rogers-style adventures. What places it a sizable cut above the routine is its spectacular visual effects.

This Hamill's name is Mark and we are not related. He plays a kid named Luke Skywalker, who is the classic dumb hero, and he plays that dumbness with terrific conviction. A true family gift.

A cinematic toy, a blissful concoction of wit and imagination, the brainchild of George Lucas of American Graffiti fame. It quickly is becoming everybody's movie of the year -- and add me to the list. But rightfully so: It is an out of this world delight.

I'm giving the original theatrical release 5 stars because there had never been anything like it before. It was absolutely groundbreaking. Over the years we've picked apart the film and no, it's not perfect. But, there was a time when it was the best there ever was. This is my seven year old self giving it five stars when I saw a theaters in 1978. Also, Han was the only one that shot.

Classic, the original. One of the best of the bunch or arguably the best depending on what your preference is. This started it all. Great acting, great special effects for the time, they still hold up somewhat. Some clunky dialogue and some excellent dialogue. One of my favs!

This is one of the best science‑fiction movies of all time. Watch it if you haven’t. It sets up one of the most popular franchises, with its story, sound effects, and actors all being fantastic — and the legendary Alec Guinness giving it the legitimacy it needed. Fantastic.

Star Wars Episode IV- A New Hope, this is a fantastic movie and probably the best movie of the 70s. This film is directed by George Lucas. And, the cinematography of this movie. The characters are just so iconic and fantastic. Overall, I give A New Hope a 9/10 or 4.6/5 stars.
