What to Know

Critics Consensus

A propulsive farce that stays on the tracks thanks to Ginger Minj and Jujubee's heartfelt rapport, Stop! That! Train! chugs along splendidly with its daffy humor and sweet celebration of drag culture.

Audience Says

With a throwback sense of humor and a drag-centric heart, Stop! That! Train! is a delightfully ridiculous romp that some are calling the Airplane! of this generation.

With a healthy dose of RuPaul’s signature wit and enough drag queen-friendly lighting to combat Hollywood’s run of dimly lit features, the team revives the disaster spoof with stylish aplomb. Go to Full Review

Some cheap, stupid comedies are funny enough to get away with it, and 'Stop! That! Train!' isn’t one of them. Go to Full Review

For the rest of us, even if more of its jokes fall flat than we might hope and some of the zingers don’t have the “zing” that they should, there’s still a cumulative effect that leaves the impression of a whole being greater than its parts. Go to Full Review

Google 19h The movie was hilarious and I would totally go see it again! See more Steven 1d We walked out! Not the least bit good! See more Jake D 1d Ehhhh... I wanted to enjoy it, but this ain't it. Boring, underwhelming, and plagued by poor writing. Aesthetically, it is honestly a rather ugly movie. Despite the budget, it feels incredibly cheap and gives off a major direct to streaming vibe. You get fine acting occasionally, but the performances from the three glamazonian stewardesses were just downright bad. Add in sound editing rough enough that several lines were completely lost, and SO many of the gags just feel completely pointless, and not in a purposeful way. Obviously, the visual use of AI is pathetic for a movie with this kind of budget, but honestly, I would not be surprised if AI was also used to write the script because there is zero heart in this. I genuinely did not laugh a single time. The creators keep claiming that drag is not the punchline here because they get to be "real actors" or whatever, but the film still turns queer culture into a cheap joke without a shred of intelligence or wit. Take the constant "reading" scenes. Instead of using the banter for actual world building or character development, it is just an excuse to spout random sassy lines that do absolutely nothing to move the story forward. It feels like they blindfolded themselves and threw darts at a dartboard to decide which actor would deliver the next empty line. And the other bits? Oh how funny, people randomly watching popular YouTube videos instead of doing their job... Wait, not funny. That is an absolutely zero effort joke that they repeat at least 10 times. Every attempt at humor just jarringly stops the movie from going anywhere. Oh cool, Charro doing a salsa dance in a conference room.... for absolutely no reason. There's room for absurdity, but you still need purpose for that absurdity. There is a huge difference between just cramming 300 jokes into a film and actually using 300 jokes to tell a story and progress a narrative. You can even tell how terrible the writing was based on the bloopers and outtakes at the end. You would see someone laughing as they delivered their line while no one else in the scene was laughing. In fact, their scene partners looked actively annoyed several times because there was absolutely nothing funny about the dialogue. Maybe the actor breaking character was just realizing how terrible the line was and laughing at the fact that they actually agreed to do this movie. I have never seen an episode of Drag Race, and the fact that people will tell me THAT is why this movie does not work for me is a major red flag. It leads me to believe that this entire project is just a cash grab for WOW. It will be completely forgotten as soon as their next All Stars winner is announced, leaving this movie rightfully lost to time (good!). I will say the part at the end where DeeDee gets knocked out while being lifted up was a genuinely strong moment. ...That is about it. See more Michael Aaron 1d Its about time someone made movies like this again! See more AV 2d Hilariously absurd. Incredible cast. Absolutely a great night out.
