A movie that is half locked-room thriller, half enjoyably bitter coming-of-age drama, Higgins’s film zeroes in on what can happen when young people grow up in an environment that encourages, even rewards obsession. Go to Full Review

While 'Sweetness’ doesn’t quite resolve all of its ideas by the end, it’s tense and shocking enough to keep the adrenaline up. That Rylee is such an unexpected conduit for violence is just part of the film’s wicked sense of humor. Go to Full Review

A Misery for a new generation, Sweetness essays a teen crush as it escalates from fandom-from-afar to an up-close-and-personal obsession. Go to Full Review

Morally complicated in its approach to mental health issues, not to mention drug addiction, the film remains consistently non-judgmental, failing to vilify one person over the other for the audience’s sake. Go to Full Review

William M @RT35507897 8h Honestly, I really liked this movie. It had somewhat of an unexpected twist at the end of it. It's not going to win a "Movie of The Year" award, but it's definitely worth watching. See more Star D @Stardlight 1d I’m sorry, I really tried to enjoy this film, but I just couldn’t. The trailer hooked me right away- it felt like my vibe. From the Wattpad-inspired fanfic theme to the male lead resembling Yungblud, I thought I’d be obsessed. Turns out, I wasn’t. There was nothing that made me sympathize with the female lead. She was just awful, and the film tried to justify her actions with a sad past. The same goes for the male lead- neither of them was likable, and I felt no connection. The female lead also did some disgusting things, like accidentally killing her best friend and acting like nothing happened, then causing two more deaths, including the male lead. What kind of film is this? She gets away with everything, and her dad doesn’t turn her in. Meanwhile, the tour manager searches for the singer, but that plot goes nowhere. A waste of time and money. I regret renting it. I expected to love it but was disappointed. The vibe was there, but the plot was awful. I do not recommend. There is less focus on tension here and more on pure psychology, and while the plot is not flawlessly executed, the film is well cast with committed performances from Hallett and Tommeraas. All the elements are operating at an elite level. The edit, the cinematography, the performances, the script, the MUSIC! Every choice by Emma Higgins is perfection. Such an impressive and fun film.
