It's startlingly philosophical for a Christmas movie, but that's all balanced out by the great verbal and physical comedy, including a hilarious ongoing gag about Jorge's contentious mustache. Go to Full Review

See more Marco L @decatur555 Jan 2, 2025 This Brazilian comedy hides a heartfelt message behind its light surface. Jorge is a grumpy man who despises Christmas and family gatherings, until a strange twist makes him relive every December 25th without remembering anything in between. Leandro Hassum is the heart of the film: he goes from absurd, silly humor to real vulnerability, and I was surprised by his range. What a great actor. The script balances laughs and sadness well, so one scene makes you laugh out loud and the next makes you think. It reminds me of Groundhog Day or Click, but the Brazilian setting and its family traditions give it its own charm. It looks warm and festive, and the music fits both the comic and the melancholy moments. More than a Christmas comedy, it's a reminder to stop and value the people we love while we have them. Funny, moving and a great pick for the holidays.
